Using nature to solve environmental issues
According to a recent study of The Lancet Commission, “pollution is the largest environmental cause of disease and premature death in the world today,” not to mention its impact on climate change. Human beings are faced with one of the most serious challenges in their history.
Men, women and children from all over the world, whether healthy or sick, educated or illiterate, rich or poor, are all affected by environmental problems.
Yet, only 4% of Québec’s philanthropic investment goes towards environmental projects. There is little data available about corporate giving, but what we do know indicates that corporations give even less.
As for government funding to the environment, which should be the highest, it
is one of the lowest budget priorities.
We need to act. Now.
